Getting Started
Hi!
I'm just getting started singing here in Chicago since I arrived from Louisiana where I preached in the A.M.E. church. I have been singing for over 35 years and once had my own gospel radio show in Louisiana - - the Vernetta Rogers Gospel Hour.
I'm creating my song list with my partner Tom Jones. Tom plays piano, guitar, and banjo. We are putting together an eclectic group of songs with a strong social justice message to reach Chicago and beyond.

Our goal is to heal our community and foster dialogue as we seek to build and strengthen our church. We are inspired by the great gospel and folk civil rights songs and seek to interpret them for the social justice issues of today.
Check here regularly for our schedule and links to groups with whom we are working.
We sing and play regularly at our home church, United Church of Rogers Park. Stop by on Sunday mornings.
In the mean-time, we are available for special gatherings, festivals, ceremonial functions, just about any occasion where a gospel-folk duo would be needed as we visit the sick in nursing homes, prisoners, or anyone in need of music.
